For the Beirut Art Fair 2015, Galerie Tanit chose to present four German photographers. This ambitious selection on display follows and highlights a long tradition of German photographic approach.
Since the beginning of the 70’s, under the generic name of the « School of Düsseldorf », based on the conceptual aesthetics and teachings of Bernd and Hilla Becher whose unique artistic vision turned into the “New Objectivity”, Germany opened a major page in the photography history as important as Pictorialism or the New Vision.
Since the Bechers, two generations became masters in their turns, now a true sphere of influence spread out on the contemporary photographic practices.
The photographs on display are the reflection of the richness of the photographic German approach, real references as much historical and theoretical as they are attractive.
