Artist Biography

Trained at the Academy of Fine Arts in Rome, Arcangelo made his debut by exhibiting at the collective exhibition “Perspective” during Art Basel in Basel. In the early 1980s, he held his first solo shows at Galerie Tanit in Munich and Galerie Buchmann in Basel the following year. His exhibition activity continued with numerous solo exhibitions, including notable shows at Janine Mautsch Gallery in Cologne, Pierre Huber Gallery in Geneva, Museum der Stadt in Esslingen, Galerie Maeght-Lelong in Paris, and Edward Totah Gallery in London. He participated in the XI and XII National Quadrennial of Art in Rome in 1986 and 1996. In 1986, he exhibited at the Guenzani Gallery and the PAC – Contemporary Art Pavilion of Milan. He continued to have solo exhibitions in large museums and private spaces such as Galerie Ingrid Raab in Berlin, Réfectoire des Jacobins Museum of Modern Art in Toulouse, Kaj Forsblom Gallery, Civic Gallery of Contemporary Art in Trento, Bonner Kunstverein in Bonn, Gentili Gallery in Florence, Stadtische Galerie in Regensburg, Municipal Gallery of Contemporary Art in St. Priest, Kodama Gallery in Osaka, Otto Gallery in Bologna, Palazzina dei Giardini Civic Gallery in Modena, Galerie Alice Pauli in Lausanne, Kunstverein in Braunschweig, Galleria Di Meo in Paris, Caffè Florian in Venice, Annamarie Andersen Gallery in Zurich, Volume Foundation! in Rome, Lorenzelli Art in Milan, Marco Rossi Contemporary Art in Milan, Verona, and Turin, The Cloister Gallery in Saronno, Tanit Gallery in Beirut, Galleria Clivio in Parma and Milan, and PoliArt in Milan.

In 2012, he participated in the Bocconi Art Gallery at Bocconi University in Milan and was featured in various group exhibitions showcasing the acquisitions of Unicredit Bank. In 2015, he received the Bugatti-Segantini award for his artistic career and participated in the collective exhibition “Passaggi” with the Volume Foundation at the MAMC, Museum of Contemporary Art of Saint Etienne, and “Hunger Nach Bildern” at Raab Gallery in Berlin.

In 2019, Arcangelo had a major solo show at the MAGA Museum in Gallarate and exhibited in the five VIP Lounges of Malpensa Airport International. In 2023, in collaboration with Galerie Tanit, he exhibited at the Mazarine Variations Gallery in Paris and at Art Paris Fair, featuring a small retrospective of his work. Over the years, numerous monographic volumes and books have been published in collaboration with various Italian poets.
