Naila Kettaneh Kunigk and Sandra Dagher are pleased to announce the photography exhibition of Nadim Asfar «Immaterial World».
The exhibition will be on view from April 11th through May 10th 2008 at the Kettaneh Building, on Nahr Street next to the Electricty of Lebanon, Mar Mikhael.
The exhibition is open Monday through Saturday from 2 pm until 8 pm.
A reception in the presence of the artist will be held on Thursday, April 10th, starting 6 pm.
Through different techniques and subjects the works presented in this exhibition is a continuation of the artist’s research around learning and understanding photography language and the role-play of point of views.
“Accept and forget photography as a pre-existing medium that has its own History, and consider it as a primitive inner language, which takes source inside of me, which timescale is mine, closer to words and sounds than to images. Closer to distorting images than to forming images.”
Born in Lebanon in 1976, Nadim Asfar obtained a Master in Photography in 2003 from the Ecole Nationale Supérieure Louis Lumière in Paris after a BA in Cinema Studies in ALBA (Beirut).
He presented his first solo exhibition “Juin” at Fadi Mogabgab Gallery (Beirut), in 2004, and participated to several collective exhibitions such as the photography exhibition “Presence” that toured between 2006 and 2007 (Institut du Monde Arabe, Paris. GLstrand, Copenhagen. Centro de arte contemporaneo. Seville. Museum of modern art. Algiers.)
Nadim Asfar does also videos among which “Print(1)” a short movie that was presented in several festivals (Videoavril, organized Ashkal Alwan. Festival ParisCinema. Cinemaeast Film festival-Independent Film Center, New York.)
